Inlyte Energy was founded by Dr. Antonio Baclig, Activate Fellow, whose research at Stanford University has sparked an evolution in the time-tested sodium metal halide battery. We have assembled the world experts in sodium metal halide technology with an operational pilot manufacturing line. We combine an innovative mindset with a rapid go-to-market timeline to help shape the world’s energy future.

Antonio Baclig

Founder & CEO

Antonio’s research as a PhD and post-doc in the Stanford Materials Science & Engineering department led him to understand the engineering and techno-economics of the salt & iron battery. Antonio founded Inlyte Energy in 2021 with the support of the Activate Fellowship in partnership with Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. Antonio has a B.A. in Chemistry and Physics from Harvard and grew up in Oahu, Hawaii.

Will Gent

Will Gent

Cofounder & VP of Engineering

Will got his PhD in Chemistry from Stanford, where he applied state-of-the-art synchrotron X-ray techniques to unveil novel degradation modes and design rules for advanced lithium ion battery cathodes. Since graduating, he has spent his career building and leading technical teams to tackle the some of the toughest challenges in battery technology, from developing machine learning algorithms to accelerate battery optimization at the Stanford StorageX Initiative, to discovering novel electrolytes for silicon-based anodes at Sila, and now to developing ultra-low cost energy storage for the grid at Inlyte.

Amy Hansen

Amy Hansen

Head of Business Operations

Amy went into tech with an English degree from Barnard College, Columbia University and a law degree from the University of San Francisco. She started her career as a lawyer representing startups and VCs in Silicon Valley. After going in-house to an enterprise software company, she transitioned into operations and Chief of Staff roles at venture-backed tech startups.

Roger Bull

Director, UK

Roger received his Graduate of the Royal Society of Chemistry (GRSC) while working in the electrochemistry department at the British Rail Technical Centre, where he developed state-of-the-art sodium sulfur cells and batteries. In 1982 he joined Beta Research and Development Ltd as a founder, developing sodium iron chloride and sodium nickel chloride cells and batteries. He obtained an MBA in 1999 and became  managing director and site leader for the company in 2001, guiding it to become a world leader in sodium metal chloride technology, a position he held until 2016. Roger then founded Beta Research Ltd as a contract research company, which became part of Inlyte Energy in November of 2022.
